Portraits :)

I choose “Persephone” because I know the Greek myth by heart (I studied Greek mythology for awhile when I was younger trying to find the one that had my name ;) )
Persephone was the daughter of the Greek goddess Demeter who was, I guess you could say she was in charge of plants/farming. hehe
Hades was lonely and thought Persephone would be a good wife (or maybe he just thought she was hot. hehe) and he opened up a hole in the earth, riding his black chariot complete with black horses out and kidnapped Persephone down to “the underworld” to be his wife… Persephone was scared and I’m sure a tidge out of her element but she was hungry so Hades offered her some foods, all of which she decline until she saw a pomegranate which she opened up and ate one seed… which sealed her fate as queen of the underworld.
When her mother figured out what happened she went to Zeus (head of the gods) and begged him to return her daughter to him. He spoke with Hades and was told about the pomegranate and wasn’t sure what to do, by the rules they had Persephone now belonged down there but he saw what was going on with the crops and made a deal with Hades, half of the year Persephone would live up above with her mother (spring and summer) and half of the year with Hades (fall and winter). Demeter’s sadness due to her daughter being gone is the Greek myth reason for fall and winter months of the year.
(ok, did I bore you enough with my version of the myth? Sorry)
